Al Behar is responsible for managing the ongoing fiduciary needs of significant wealth advisory clients throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. He provides solutions to complex generational planning issues, using a full balance sheet approach to drive communication with clients and their advisors in creating individualized and comprehensive plans. These plans take into consideration the client’s current situation, tax needs, investment acumen, risk tolerance, and both strategic and tactical goals.
Behar has nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in high-net-worth families and middle market institutions. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust in 2011, Behar served as a senior trust and fiduciary advisor with Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he managed relationships with high-net-worth families comprised of closely held business principals, public company executives, professionals, and generational wealth transfer beneficiaries. Earlier in his career, he worked for UBS Trust Company, Wachovia Trust Company, and Riggs & Co.( a predecessor to PNC).
Behar holds a J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center and earned his bachelor’s of arts in Economics from Columbia University. He is a member of the D.C. Bar Association: Estate, Trust, & Probation Section, and a member of both the Maryland and Washington D.C. Estate Planning Councils (he is a past president of the D.C. Council). He is also an active participant in the American Association of Attorneys and CPAs and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs.
