Buffalo, NY–Wilmington Trust, a leader in wealth management and corporate and institutional services, announces that Chris Hugar has been promoted to senior wealth advisor, responsible for providing comprehensive wealth management advice to high-net-worth individuals and families, entrepreneurs, business owners, corporate executives, and foundations and endowments throughout the Buffalo and Western New York region. He will work closely with clients and their advisors to develop financial strategies to help clients meet their current needs and plan for their long-term objectives. Chris also will coordinate the various services his clients require based on their unique needs, including investment management, planning, trust, private banking, and family office services.
Chris has many years of experience in the industry. Before transitioning to his role as a senior wealth advisor, he oversaw Wilmington Trust’s Wealth Management Business Intelligence unit, a group focused on various strategy, planning, and analytics functions. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust in 2015, he spent several years at Nottingham Advisors, a Buffalo-based RIA, where he specialized in the management of global asset allocation portfolios for both individuals and institutions. Additionally, Chris worked with institutional clients at YieldBook, a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group that specializes in fixed income analytics.
Chris is a CFA charterholder and a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. He holds an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Canisius College. Presently, Chris serves as the vice president and treasurer of the CFA Society Buffalo and is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Western New York. In 2017, he received Wilmington Trust’s President’s Council Award.
Chris participated in Leadership Buffalo’s Rising Leaders Class of 2013. Currently, he serves as a professional mentor for students participating in Canisius College’s Golden Griffin Fund. Chris enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
