WILMINGTON, DEL — Wilmington Trust expanded its Fiduciary Tax Department to handle increased demand for fiduciary tax return services. Robert Weidner was hired to lead the department, which is part of Wilmington Trust’s Wealth Advisory division. New additions to the team include John Roberts, Daniel Valentino, and Anthony Ward. The Fiduciary Tax Department is based in Wilmington Trust’s headquarters in Wilmington, Del.
 
“Expanding our fiduciary tax services was essential to handle the influx of new clients and the increasing importance of tax services for trusts and estates,” said Kemp Stickney, Wilmington Trust’s chief fiduciary officer and head of Family Wealth. “These individuals are great additions to the tax department. In particular, we are pleased to have a leader with Bob Weidner’s depth of experience and expertise to continue building growing our team to serve our clients.”
 
Robert Weidner
Weidner joined Wilmington Trust as head of Tax for Wealth Advisory. He reports to Stickney. In his role, Weidner provides guidance on the structure and integration of the tax preparation work for the firm. He oversees the Fiduciary Tax Department and guides the development and structure of the group in support of the Wealth Advisory division’s growth.
 
Before joining Wilmington Trust, Weidner was executive director and head of the Private Bank Income Tax Department at JPMorgan Chase. His career spanned 24 years at JPMorgan, where he worked in various leadership roles related to fiduciary income tax services and personal income tax compliance relationships for ultra-high-net-worth private banking clients.
 
Weidner received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Widener University, where he also earned a Master of Science in Taxation. He is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
 
He is active in the community, serving as treasurer with the St. Cecilia’s Knights of Columbus Council, in Coatesville, Pa., as well as participating in charity walks with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the MS Society.

Daniel Valentino
Daniel Valentino joins Wilmington Trust as team leader for Trust, Fiduciary, Individual Compliance and Training. He is in charge of developing and improving policies and procedures, as well as training teammates in the preparation and planning for engagement with trusts, estates, foundations, individuals, and partnerships.
 
Previously, he was tax supervisor for Elko & Associates LTD. Prior to that he was tax manager at ParenteBeard LLC, trust administrator at J.P. Morgan Trust Company of Delaware, and staff accountant at Belfint, Lyons & Shuman.
 
He graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
 
Anthony Ward
Anthony Ward was hired as Tax Group Unit manager. He supervises a team of tax accountants who prepare fiduciary and personal income tax returns for clients. He also oversees the maintenance of the tax processing software utilized by the department.
 
Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Ward was employed by JPMorgan Chase & Co for 35 years, where he held multiple positions.
 
John Roberts
John Roberts was hired as an accountant and financial analyst responsible for preparing client tax returns. Before joining Wilmington Trust, Roberts was senior tax officer at PNC Bank. Previously, he was tax associate at JP Morgan Chase & Co., and trust tax officer at Wachovia Bank.
 
Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree from Kaplan University. He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2000.
