Wilmington Trust has hired Sharon L. Klein as managing director of Family Office Services and Wealth Strategies in the New York Metro Region.

Klein has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of trusts and estates, and philanthropic planning. Previously, she worked for Lazard Wealth Management, where she served as managing director and head of Wealth Advisory Services. Before that, she headed the Estate Advisement department at Fiduciary Trust Company International, and was special counsel in the Trusts and Estates Department at Rosenman & Colin (now Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP).

Klein is a nationally-recognized speaker and author on trust and estate issues, and has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Law Journal, and other publications.

“Sharon is a great addition to our New York team as she brings her leading expertise in the trusts and estate business to serve our clients,” said Larry Gore, Wilmington Trust’s New York president. “Sharon’s leadership in trust and estates, and philanthropic planning is well-known in the region. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Master of Laws from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley.

Klein serves as chair of the Trusts, Estates and Surrogate’s Court Committee for the New York City Bar Association, and as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Insurance and Financial Planning Committee. She is a member of the Rockefeller University Committee on Trust and Estate Gift Plans, the Estates, Gifts and Trusts Advisory Board for the Bureau of National Affairs, and the Professional Advisory Council of the Anti-Defamation League.
