Marblehead Leader Spinnaker 2014
The Wilmington Trust Leader Spinnaker from Marblehead Race Week in 2014.Wilmington Trust will award the “leader spinnaker” to the winning boat in each day’s heat—and to the overall winner—for the J/105 fleet. The wealth and investment management firm, based in Wilmington, Del., conceived the leader’s spinnaker award in 2014 to recognize winners for their exceptional performance in the J/105 class races during Marblehead Race Week.
“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Marblehead Race Week, and are excited to again sponsor the leader spinnaker award to recognize the best teams at this premier sailing event,” said Will Parizeau, Wealth Advisory market leader for Wilmington Trust in Boston. “Wilmington Trust is honored to support the efforts of the Helly Hanson NOOD Regatta and the Marblehead Racing Association. We wish the very best to all boats and their crews.”
“The Wilmington Trust Leader Spinnaker both rewards the best J/105 crews for their victories and establishes them as the team to beat in the next race,” said David Reed, editor of Sailing World magazine.
The final awards for the Helly Hansen NOOD Regatta will be presented on Sunday, July 26, at the culmination of the event. The J/105 boat with the lowest cumulative score at the end of Race Week will be awarded the Wilmington Trust Leader Spinnaker to keep. The spinnaker, created by internationally-recognized sailmaker North Sails, is composed of a black background with Wilmington Trust’s name and logo in white. In 2014, Circe’s Cup, skippered by Ric Dexter of Swampscott, Mass., was awarded the Wilmington Trust Leader Spinnaker at the conclusion of Race Week.
