Wilmington Trust Adds Two Senior Advisors to Wealth Management Team in Buffalo, N.Y.

Carol Stymiest joins as wealth investment advisor, Thomas Waters as senior private client advisor

BUFFALO, NY—Wilmington Trust added two new senior advisors to its wealth management team in Buffalo, N.Y. Carol Stymiest was hired as a wealth investment advisor, and Thomas Waters joins as a senior private client advisor. Both are based in the Wilmington Trust offices at One Fountain Plaza in downtown Buffalo.

CAROL STYMIEST
As wealth investment advisor, Stymiest is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for clients based on their unique parameters for risk, return, liquidity, and other factors. She structures diversified portfolios in keeping with clients’ asset allocation plans, and periodically rebalances portfolios to reflect clients’ evolving needs and new investment opportunities.
 
Before joining Wilmington Trust, Stymiest worked at First Citizens Bank in North Carolina as a portfolio strategist responsible for managing portfolios for high-net-worth individuals and institutions. With more than 20 years in the financial industry, she began her investment career at Royal Bank of Canada as an investment advisor and retirement planner, and has worked at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor.
 
She earned a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Waterloo. She is the past president of the Greater Triangle Chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade, as well as the past president and founder of the Canadian Business Association of North Carolina.

THOMAS WATERS
In his role as a senior private client advisor, Waters provides comprehensive wealth management advice to high-net-worth individuals and families, institutions, and foundations and endowments throughout Western New York. He works closely with clients and their advisors to ensure that they receive an appropriate blend of financial services based on their unique needs, including investment management, planning, trust, private banking, and family office services. He also delivers consultative services in the areas of retirement planning and risk management for individual and institutional clients.
 
Waters has more than two decades of experience working in the institutional asset management industry. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, he was a senior institutional defined contribution strategist with Franklin Templeton. In that role, he worked with plan sponsors with over $1bn in retirement assets and global investment consultants to help transform their retirement plans to better meet the needs of their plan participants. He has also worked for J.P. Morgan Asset Management and Putnam Investments.
 
He received an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Government from St. Lawrence University. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses, and has authored various research and white papers.
