Wilmington Trust Hires Joe Donovan as Senior Sales Trust Representative for Institutional Retirement Services Division

Donovan, based in Boston, will focus on growing collective investment trust business nationally

Wilmington Trust, N.A. hired Joe Donovan as senior sales trust representative for its Institutional Retirement Services division. Based in Wilmington Trust’s office in Boston, he will work to grow collective investment trust (CIT) business nationwide as an investment vehicle for defined contribution 401(k) plans. Donovan will provide support to defined contribution financial advisors, recordkeepers, and sub-advisor sales teams.

Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, Donovan was a regional sales director at Victory Capital for the past ten years, where he supported defined contribution financial advisors on both active and passive management, mutual funds, CITs, and exchange traded funds. Before that, he held various positions at Prudential Financial, SSgA, and Putnam Investments.

Donovan will share the national market with Val Ferrara, who joined Wilmington Trust in 2015 as a senior sales trust representative. Ferrara is based in the company’s New York office.

“We’re excited to have both Joe and Val working together to grow our CIT business with clients across the country,” said Matt McAfee, head of Retirement Services at Wilmington Trust. “The demand for CIT products is growing rapidly, so adding someone with Joe’s experience in the sector was important to our team. Joe and Val are a strong team to benefit clients in the defined contribution space.”

Wilmington Trust, N.A. is a respected trustee in the collective trust fund market with over $16.5 billion in assets under management across funds managed by more than 30 sub-advisers and available on more than 35 trading platforms, as of Dec. 31, 2016.

Donovan earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Westfield State University, and holds the title of Accredited Investment Fiduciary.

He is based in Wilmington Trust’s office at 280 Congress St., Suite 1300, in Boston, Mass., and can be reached at (203)623-0292.
