Wilmington Trust Promotes William T. LaFond to Head of Family Wealth

LaFond oversees wealth services to prominent family clients

WILMINGTON, DEL — Wilmington Trust promoted William T. LaFond to head of its Family Wealth division. In his new role, he will oversee the delivery of advice and services for many of Wilmington Trust’s largest and most prominent client families.

LaFond joined Wilmington Trust in 2004, and was most recently the regional president for Wealth Advisory for the Greater Washington, D.C. and Central Virginia regions. LaFond was previously the head of business development for Wilmington Trust’s Family Wealth division. He has two decades of experience advising clients on investment management, trust and estate planning, risk management, business succession, and retirement planning issues and insights.

“Bill’s deep wealth advisory experience and commitment to our clients makes him the ideal person to lead our Family Wealth team,” said Mark Graham, executive vice president with Wealth Advisory at Wilmington Trust. “Serving family clients has been at the heart of Wilmington Trust for more than a century. As we look to our future, we need a smart, capable leader to both continue and evolve this legacy. I can think of no one better suited to this task than Bill.”

LaFond holds a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton. He is a member of the board of trustees and the finance committee for Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md.

LaFond is based in Wilmington Trust’s headquarters in downtown Wilmington, Del., and can be reached at (302) 651-8131.
